Our Pets

Zelda is about 20 months old this mid-September. She has given us a lot of joy.

We also have a cat named Kendall who we acquired 3 years ago on September 11 from the Livingston County shelter when Valentino died (he looks a lot like him). We just got a guinea pig named Teddy.

Lake Michigan

It wasn't more than a long weekend, but it still was LAKE MICHIGAN! We left Saline at 9:30am and were in the water by 1pm on a beautiful August day. It is the kind of thing that makes you feel as though you have had a summer.

Summer Camps

Since both Chris and I work a lot in the summers, Aaron goes to a lot of camps. Here are a few highlights from summer 2008, which included Hogwarts, King Arthur, Robots camp (thanks Grammy Jan), Math Merchants, Game Factory, and several waterpark escape weeks.

Fossil Park

Just over the Ohio border is a free park where you have the privilege of baking in the sun and digging in the clay. Occasionally you find a partial trilobyte fossil! Aaron thinks it is a great place and on this day we went with his friend Dan and Dan's family, including little sister Miranda.

Soak City

Around August 30, we went to Soak City near Cedar Point. It was a nice hot day (followed by a really rainy one, weren't we lucky!) with a lot of sunshine. It made Aaron really want to go back for Cedar Point and Aunt Tricia has agreed quite happily to be his guide on the big rollercoasters. Neither Chris or I enjoy that scene at all.

Aaron met two nice kids from Tecumseh that he hung out with and went down a really large tube with and on the dark octopus slide. Carolyn went with him several times in the wave pool and in the wild river (never have seen a lazy river with waves before--very cool!)

Dog Park Swim

On Saturday, September 6, Zelda had a blast at Rolling Hills waterpark. Normally just the humans get to go, but after Labor Day every dog has her day! Here she is going down one of the smaller water slides. (chocolate lab right behind human in blue) Aaron's head is in lower right of corner -- he was in clothes and didn't want to swim across. Frankly, the water wasn't too pristine at this point and I didn't blame him.
